Description

The problem with most compact prams is that the word compact is doing a lot of work. They fold small, and then they ride like a shopping trolley on anything rougher than a shopping centre floor. The Thule Spring 2 is the rare one that folds to 75 x 45 x 39 cm and still has 8.5" foam-filled tyres and suspension on the front wheel.

That combination is the whole point. At 10.8 kg it goes in the boot, through a 64 cm doorway and onto a plane, but the soft foam tyres mean gravel paths, grass and cobblestones do not rattle a sleeping toddler awake. The 3D fold tucks the rear wheels in and it stands up on its own, so it is not sliding around the boot or falling over in the hallway.

It takes the Thule Bassinet with an adapter and Maxi-Cosi capsules via the Thule Spring Car Seat Adaptor, so it works from birth rather than from six months. Add the Spring Snack Tray, Cup Holder or Rider Board Adaptor as you need them.

Features
  • Compact 3D fold, one-handed. The rear wheels tuck in to shrink the footprint, and it can be folded with one hand while you are holding a child.
  • Self-standing when folded — it stays upright in the boot, the hallway or a hotel room.
  • 8.5" foam-filled tyres. Maintenance free, never go flat, and soft enough to smooth out rough ground.
  • Lockable swivel front wheel with suspension. Unlock for tight shops, lock for a straight line on a path.
  • One-hand adjustable sliding handlebar with improved grip, so two parents of different heights can share it.
  • Reclining nap-ready seat with a built-in leg rest.
  • UPF 50+ extendable canopy in rip-stop fabric, with an integrated extension for low sun and a see-through mesh peekaboo panel.
  • Ready from day one. Pairs with a Thule bassinet (adapter required) or a car seat to work as a travel system.
  • 5-point harness.
  • 10 kg cargo basket — usefully large for a stroller this size.
  • Red Dot Design Award 2025 winner.

Why parents love the Spring 2

Most families who buy this already own a big pram. The Spring 2 is the second one — the one that lives in the boot permanently, goes on the plane, and handles the airport, the holiday and the day trip. What makes it work in that role is the 64 cm door pass-through and the self-standing fold, because the compact prams that fail are the ones you have to lean against a wall every time you put them down.

The other thing worth knowing is the tyre choice. Foam-filled at 8.5 inches is genuinely unusual at this fold size — most compact prams use small hard plastic wheels, which is why they get described as fine for the shops and nowhere else. This one will do a gravel path or a beach track without the handling going to pieces.

FAQs

Can I use the Thule Spring 2 from birth?
Yes, but not with the seat upright. You need either the Thule bassinet (which requires a bassinet adapter) or a compatible car seat with the Spring car seat adapter. Once your child can sit unaided, the seat itself is fine.

Is it small enough for a plane?
It folds to 75 x 45 x 39 cm, which is gate-check size on most airlines rather than carry-on. Check your airline's cabin limits before travelling — most will take it at the gate.

Does it fit through a standard doorway?
Yes. The door pass-through is 64 cm, which clears a standard Australian internal doorway and a supermarket checkout.

Will it handle gravel, grass or the beach?
Better than most compact prams. The 8.5" foam-filled tyres and front-wheel suspension are closer to an all-terrain setup than the small hard wheels on typical travel prams. Deep soft sand is still a stretch for any three-wheeler this light.

How much does it weigh?
10.8 kg. That is heavier than the lightest cabin-size prams, which is the trade-off for the bigger tyres and suspension.

Which car seats does it take?
Maxi-Cosi capsules with the Thule Spring Car Seat Adaptor, and Chicco with the Chicco-specific adapter. Ask us which adapter suits your capsule.

Does it stand up on its own when folded?
Yes. The 3D fold tucks the rear wheels in and it is self-standing, so it will not fall over when you put it down.

Can I fold it one-handed while holding my baby?
Yes — Thule designed the quick-fold specifically for that.

Do the tyres ever need pumping?
No. They are foam-filled rather than air-filled, so they are maintenance free and cannot go flat.

What's the difference between the Spring 2 and the Urban Glide 3?
The Urban Glide 3 is the larger all-terrain and jogging pram with air-filled tyres. The Spring 2 trades that size for a much smaller fold, so it is the better choice as a travel or second pram.
