Use-Cases and Compatibility
Choosing a nursing chair comes down to how you’ll use it, where it will sit and the features that will make the biggest difference to your routine.
- For the early weeks after birth
Electric recline lets you lean back and sit up at the press of a button, rather than pushing yourself forward with a baby in your arms. This can be especially helpful while you’re recovering, including after a C-section. The iL Tutto Henry and iL Tutto Lola are both electric options.
- For long night feeds
A smooth glide can help settle your little one, while built-in USB charging keeps your phone within reach. For extra comfort, the iL Tutto Henry Plus adds back massage, seat heat and adjustable air lumbar support.
- For a manual option
If you’d prefer a chair that doesn’t need a power point, manual recliners such as the iL Tutto Quinn still offer a swivel base and full recline.
- For the rest of the nursery
iL Tutto also makes the Ollie Cot, Luca Cot and Theo Chest & Changer, so you can create a coordinated look. Cots are sold without a mattress, so check the mattress size for the cot you choose.
Looking After Your Nursing Chair
A little regular care keeps your iL Tutto nursing chair looking fresh through the feeding months and beyond. Always follow the care instructions for your specific chair and fabric.
Vacuum regularly - Remove crumbs and dust from the seat, arms and around the cushions.
Treat spills straight away - Blot milk and other spills promptly without rubbing, then wipe gently with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed.
Unplug before cleaning - For electric chairs, always unplug the power cord before cleaning and keep it out of reach when not in use.
Protect the fabric - A fabric care kit can help protect upholstery from everyday spills and marks.
Keep it out of direct sun - Placing the chair away from direct sunlight and heat helps protect the fabric over time.
What to Check Before You Buy:
- Choose between manual and electric recline
Manual recliners don’t need a power point, while electric recline is easier to use one-handed. Consider how you’ll be feeding and settling your little one day to day.
- Measure your space
Check the chair’s dimensions against your nursery, leaving room behind and in front for the recline and footrest, and space around it to swivel.
- Check where the power point is
Electric chairs need to sit within reach of a power point. Make sure the cord can reach without running under the chair’s base.
- Think about the fabric
Bouclé, corduroy and fleece fabrics each have a different look and feel. Lighter colours suit a calm nursery, while a care kit can help keep them looking their best.
