What is Mumma Etcetera?

Mumma Etcetera is an Australian-designed babywearing brand known for handwoven linen baby carriers, toddler hip carriers and matching baby hats. Every piece is made from linen handwoven from OEKO-TEX® certified European flax and hand-dyed in small batches, so no two are exactly alike. Baby Little Planet is an authorised Australian stockist.

What is the difference between the Daily Carrier and the Hipsy Carrier?

The Daily Carrier is a hands-free, clip-and-go front carrier for newborns through to toddlers, from 3.6 kg to 16 kg. The Hipsy Carrier is a ring-sling-inspired hip carry support for toddlers from around 9 months (8.5 kg) to 20 kg. The Hipsy is not hands-free — one hand stays on your child at all times. Many parents use the Daily Carrier first, then add the Hipsy around 9 months for quick, frequent carries.

Can I use a Mumma Etcetera carrier with a newborn?

Yes. The Daily Carrier is suitable from birth at 3.6 kg, with a quilted bodice, a tuck-in headrest and an adjustable knee-to-knee base that supports the hip-healthy M-position from the first weeks. Carry newborns facing inward; outward-facing is suitable from around 6 months once head control is strong. The Hipsy Carrier is for older babies from 9 months who can sit unassisted.

Are Mumma Etcetera carriers safe and hip-healthy?

Yes. Every Mumma Etcetera carrier is endorsed by the Australian Babywearing Association (ABA), designed in accordance with International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) recommendations for ergonomic positioning, and complies with the US ASTM F2236 safety standard for baby carriers. Mumma Etcetera is also a member of the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance.

What are Mumma Etcetera carriers made from?

The outer is 100% handwoven linen from OEKO-TEX® certified European flax. The inner and webbing are 100% cotton. Linen is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic and gentle on baby's skin, and it softens with every wash.

Will a Mumma Etcetera carrier fit my partner or grandparents?

Yes. Both the Daily Carrier and the Hipsy Carrier are one size, adjustable to suit women's sizes 6–24, so they can be shared between carers.

What sizes do the Baby & Toddler Hats come in?

Four sizes: 0–3 months, 3–6 months, 6–12 months and 1–2 years. Each hat has an adjustable pull inside and a neck tie, and comes in the same hand-dyed colourways as the carriers so you can match your baby's hat to your carry.

How do I wash handwoven linen?

Hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold water with a mild detergent free of brighteners. Hang in the shade to dry and store out of direct sunlight. Do not dry clean. The linen will soften and gently fade over time, developing character.
