Description

Most breathing monitors ask you to clip something to your baby, or wrap something around them. The CuboAi Sleep Sensor Pad does neither. It sits on the cot slats underneath the mattress, out of sight and out of the cot entirely, and reads breathing motion through the mattress surface using four motion sensors.

What makes it different from a standalone pad is that it talks to the camera. On its own, an under-mattress sensor cannot tell the difference between a baby who has stopped moving and a baby who has been lifted out of the cot — which is where most false alarms come from. Here, the CuboAi camera confirms whether your baby is actually in the cot first. Only if the camera sees them there and the pad detects no breathing motion does it alert you.

It installs once and then you largely forget it exists: lift the mattress, lay the pad on the slats, put the mattress back. If you are comparing approaches, the Nanit Breathing Wear Band takes the opposite route and reads breathing from a patterned garment instead.

Features
  • Four motion sensors reading breathing motion across the mattress surface.
  • Camera-confirmed alerts. The CuboAi camera verifies your baby is in the cot before the pad's reading can trigger an alert, which cuts false alarms from an empty cot.
  • Completely non-contact. Nothing clipped to your baby, nothing worn, nothing inside the cot.
  • One-time installation. Sits on the cot slats under the mattress and stays there.
  • Bluetooth 5.0 connection to the camera.
  • Battery powered — 4 x AAA alkaline, so no cable anywhere near the cot.
  • Continuous data collection feeding breathing motion patterns into the CuboAi app overnight.

Why parents love the Sleep Sensor Pad

The appeal is honestly not the data. It is that for the first few months, a lot of parents are getting up to stand over the cot and watch for the rise and fall of a chest. This does not remove the instinct, but it does mean the information is on your phone instead of requiring you to open a door and risk waking a baby who took forty minutes to settle.

The non-contact part also matters more than it sounds. Anything worn or clipped on becomes one more item to remember at 2am, one more thing to wash, and one more thing a baby can pull at. Under the mattress, it is simply not part of the routine.

FAQs

Do I need a CuboAi camera to use this?
Yes. The pad must be paired with a CuboAi Plus or a CuboAi Monitor 3. It has no screen, no app function and no alerting ability on its own, so it is an add-on rather than a standalone monitor.

How does it actually detect breathing?
Four motion sensors read tiny movements on the underside of the mattress and CuboAi's algorithm converts those into breathing motion data. Nothing touches your baby.

Will it work with my cot mattress?
It needs a mattress between 6 cm and 13 cm thick, and it reads most accurately through spring, coir, or spring and coir combination mattresses. Thick foam mattresses dampen the movement it is trying to read. Measure your mattress before ordering, and contact CuboAi support if yours is a foam type.

Does it prevent SIDS?
No. This is not a medical device and it is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent SIDS or any other condition. False readings are possible. It does not replace adult supervision or safe sleep practice.

Where exactly does it go?
Lift the mattress out, lay the pad in the middle of the cot on the bed slats, and put the mattress back on top. It stays out of sight so your baby's sleep space is unchanged.

Does it need batteries or a power cord?
Batteries — 4 x AAA alkaline. There is no cable, which is deliberate: no cord anywhere near a cot.

What phone do I need?
An iPhone on iOS 16 or newer, or an Android device on Android 12 or newer, running the CuboAi app.
