Description

Thule has spent years building trailers that tow children behind a bike. The Bexey applies the same engineering to the other member of the family — a dog trailer with a cushioned floor that stays stable over rough ground and an interior with no sharp corners to knock against.

The low rear entry is the part most dog owners care about. A dog that has to be lifted into a trailer will resist it; one that can walk in on its own usually settles far faster. With a step-in height of just 170 mm on both sizes, the back door is genuinely walk-in.

It comes in two sizes — Medium for dogs to 35 kg and Large for dogs to 45 kg — folds flat for the boot or garage, locks against theft, and attaches to the bike one-handed. If you already tow children, it sits alongside the Thule Chariot Sport 2 and the Thule Yepp Nexxt 2 in the same ecosystem.

Features
  • Solid, cushioned floor keeps your dog stable and comfortable, even over uneven terrain.
  • Indoor training mode. Remove the wheels and hitch arm and the trailer sits securely on its plastic base, so your dog can get used to it at home before the first ride.
  • Removable floor and side panels — they zip out for cleaning, and can be replaced rather than writing off the trailer if a puppy chews through one.
  • Mesh front and side panels for maximum ventilation.
  • Low rear entry and extra head height so your dog can walk in and stand up inside.
  • Quick-Attach hitch. One-handed mounting to the bike.
  • Compact fold for transport and small spaces.
  • Robust construction built to resist scratches and bites.
  • Built-in lock — keeps your dog secure and deters theft when you stop.
  • iF Design Award 2024 winner.

Why owners choose the Bexey

The reason people buy a dog bike trailer is almost never the dog's convenience — it is range. An older dog, a short-legged breed, or a dog recovering from surgery simply cannot do a 20 km ride, which means either the ride does not happen or the dog stays home. A trailer removes that trade-off, and the dog can hop out and walk the sections it can manage.

The indoor training mode is the feature that quietly makes it work. Most dogs refuse a trailer the first few times. Being able to set it up in the lounge room as a stationary, treat-filled den for a fortnight before it ever goes near a bike is the difference between a trailer that gets used and one that sits in the shed.

FAQs

Which size dog trailer do I need, Medium or Large?
Measure your dog at the withers (the top of the shoulder). Medium suits dogs around 45 cm tall and up to 35 kg; Large suits dogs around 55 cm and up to 45 kg. Leave 15–20 cm of headroom so your dog can stand and sit comfortably. If your dog sits right on the line, go Large.

Will it fit my bike?
It attaches to most bicycles with the Quick-Attach hitch, but some bikes need a Thule adapter depending on the rear axle type. Check your axle before ordering and we can confirm which adapter you need.

Can it be used as a dog stroller?
Yes, with the Thule Bexey strolling kit (sold separately, sized to match your trailer). It converts the trailer into a dog stroller for walks. Ask us and we can order it in.

Can I put my child in it instead?
No. This is designed for dogs only. It has no harness, no child restraint and no roll protection for a passenger. For children, Thule's Chariot range is the correct product.

How do I get my dog to actually use it?
Take the wheels and hitch arm off, sit the trailer on its base indoors, and treat it as a den with treats and a familiar blanket for a week or two. Thule designed this training mode in because it is the step most owners skip.

Is it easy to clean after a muddy ride?
The floor zips out entirely and the side panels come off, so it hoses down rather than needing to be scrubbed in place.

Are there accessories?
Thule make a fitted dog bed, a rain cover and the strolling kit for each size. Ask us if you would like any of them ordered in.

Does it lock?
Yes, there is a built-in lock so you can leave it attached and secure while you stop.
